Removed PyInt_GetMax and sys.maxint
I replaced sys.maxint with sys.maxsize in Lib/*.py. Does anybody see a problem with the change on Win 64bit platforms? Win 64's long is just 32bit but the sys.maxsize is now 2**63-1 on every 64bit platform.
Also added docs for sys.maxsize.

Eliminate outdated usages of PyInt_GetMax.

Remove PyInt_CheckExact. Add PyLong_AsLongAndOverflow.

Removed another occurrence of PyInt_ExactCheck()
I've modified the semantic of PyTraceBack_Print and sys.tracebacklimit slightly. Overfloats or values <= 0 are replaced with a default value to avoid infinite recursion and other issues.

Remove special-casing of integer operations, to stop
using PyInt_CheckExact.

  Applied my patch #1455 with some extra fixes for VS 2005
  The new msvc9compiler module supports VS 2005 and VS 2008. I've also fixed build_ext to support PCbuild8 and PCbuild9 and backported my fix for xxmodule.c from py3k. The old code msvccompiler is still in place in case somebody likes to build an extension with VS 2003 or earlier.
  I've also updated the cygwin compiler module for VS 2005 and VS 2008. It works with VS 2005 but I'm unable to test it with VS 2008. We have to wait for a new version of cygwin.

There was one occurence of PyInt_FromLong left in Parser/asdl_c.py. The files creates some C code.

Fix some 2.xisms in merged docs.

I've moved the remains of PyInt_ to the longobject.h header file and removed the inclusing of intobject.h from Python.h. Now the intobject.h exists only to provide some aliases for porters from Python 2.x.

Fixed merge accident. Next time I'm going to run the entire test suite ...

The bz2 codec isn't supported any more. I've also commented out several codecs which were removed in the past.

Multiple reinitializations of Python 3.0 failed on a system without a hardcoded default fs encoding. The patch makes sure that the default fs encoding is freed and reset to NULL on e.g. Linux.
I've also taken the liberty to increase the debugging in Objects/object.c:_Py_ForgetReference(). The method is used to validate the reference chain.

Added all PyTypeObjects to the appropriate header files.
Before the patch a lot of internal types weren't available in the header files. The patch exposes the new iterators, views and some other types to all C modules. I've also renamed some of the types and tp_names.

The changes to PyMethod_New and the removal of unbound methods breaks ctypes' COMError on Windows. This patch doesn't address the problem but re-enables the import of _ctypes until somebody has time to fix it right. I've no time to dig into it. Also see http://bugs.python.org/issue1505

Futher update docs after unbound method removal.

Removed the API to create unbound methods and simplified the API for bound methods. The signature is PyMethod_New(func, instance).
Also removed im_class and renamed im_self to __self__ and im_func to __func__. im_class can be substituted with method.__self__.__class__.

  I'm wonder why I was trying to add the filename to the node all the time. The compiling struct is more obvious.

Remove unbound method objects

#1479: Fix refleak in csv module (from rev 59062).

#1480: fix refleak in the sqlite module.

It came from rev 58682. The reason is that PyString_Concat
and PyUnicode_Concat work differently -- the equivalent to
PyString_Concat is PyUnicode_Append.

Remove unused variable.

Use proper API for iter.__next__().

Added a simple helper script to build the dependencies of _tkinter.

Added user macro for tcltk 64bit directory
Redone some changes to the ssl project. From now on the _ssl project depends on a 32bit build of Python to aid cross compiling on a 32bit OS.

Fixed a newline problem

fix #1409: cell variables were not initialized,
when the value comes from a keyword-only parameter.

Open output files in text mode, after all they are text files.
(Binary mode caused problems when "python" was 3.0.)

Paul had the great idea to add /DNO_TCL to the pre-build step.

For license reasons Python must not ship with IDEA, RC5 and MDC2. The latter are disabled by default but IDEA is enabled by default.

Removed unreferenced variable

Just inline a function, and discover that it can only raise an exception.

Next step: should PyString_AsStringAndSize accept buffer objects?

Stream functions like read() are supposed to return bytes, not buffer.
Now multibytecodec directly works with PyStrings, and disallow PyBytes.

Problem found while converting from PyBytes to PyString:

Re-enable (and correct) a test for the BOM at the beginning of a code unit.
And properly "unget" characters when the BOM is incomplete.

Fix, thanks to Nick.

Update docs for buffer -> bytearray rename.

Fixed PGO builds
The intermediate PG instrument build now lands in Platform-pgi and the final optimized build in Platform-pgo.

Use PyString instead of PyBytes in wrap_strftime().

Removed blocks from several functions in unicodeobject and stringobject where a PyString function was still checking for PyUnicode or the other way around.
PyUnicode and PyString shouldn't magically convert the other type.

os.environ contains PyUnicode instances and not PyString instances

Removed some leftovers from the str8 days

Typo in bytes.replace(): the buffer interface was always used.

PyString_AsString is permissive and accepts unicode strings.

Replace it with PyUnicode_AsString when the argument is known to be a str.

In audioop, return PyString instead of PyBytes.
