This worked most of the time, because the scavenger iterator was moved at the end of the frame index loop in PEI. This would fail if the spill was the first instruction. This was further hidden by the fact that the scavenger wasn't passed in for normal frame index elimination. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@357098 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8 --- diff --git a/lib/Target/AMDGPU/SIRegisterInfo.cpp b/lib/Target/AMDGPU/SIRegisterInfo.cpp index 92fbbcdc93d..8c8caaa9bc7 100644 --- a/lib/Target/AMDGPU/SIRegisterInfo.cpp +++ b/lib/Target/AMDGPU/SIRegisterInfo.cpp @@ -584,7 +584,7 @@ void SIRegisterInfo::buildSpillLoadStore(MachineBasicBlock::iterator MI, // We don't have access to the register scavenger if this function is called // during PEI::scavengeFrameVirtualRegs(). if (RS) - SOffset = RS->FindUnusedReg(&AMDGPU::SGPR_32RegClass); + SOffset = RS->scavengeRegister(&AMDGPU::SGPR_32RegClass, MI, 0, false); if (SOffset == AMDGPU::NoRegister) { // There are no free SGPRs, and since we are in the process of spilling diff --git a/test/CodeGen/AMDGPU/pei-reg-scavenger-position.mir b/test/CodeGen/AMDGPU/pei-reg-scavenger-position.mir new file mode 100644 index 00000000000..817ffc82f31 --- /dev/null +++ b/test/CodeGen/AMDGPU/pei-reg-scavenger-position.mir @@ -0,0 +1,44 @@ +# NOTE: Assertions have been autogenerated by utils/update_mir_test_checks.py +# RUN: llc -mtriple=amdgcn-amd-amdhsa -verify-machineinstrs -run-pass=prologepilog %s -o - | FileCheck %s + +# The wrong form of scavengeRegister was used, so it wasn't accounting +# for the iterator passed to eliminateFrameIndex.
