Get "make install" with DSOs to work on AIX and Solaris.  A recent
change by me to get "make install" to work at all on Tru64 caused this
problem.

This change has been tested with and without DSOs on AIX, Tru64,
Solaris 8 (UltraSparc), and RedHat 6.0.
